Central park spring blooms inspire upper east side apartment renovation

Nestled just a block from Central Park, a New York City apartment has undergone a vibrant transformation, channeling the season's cheerful hues into a haven of modern design. Samantha Ware Designs, led by Samantha Stathis Lynch, reimagined the post-war residence, infusing it with a palette inspired by blossoming cherry blossoms and lush spring greenery.

The project began with a request to revitalize a Manhattan apartment lacking personality. White walls and cabinets provided a blank canvas, but the space needed a personality transplant. A kitchen renovation became essential, replacing outdated melamine cabinets with custom creations from Iron Oak painted in Portola Paints' Shasta Daisy.

A palette of renewal

Lynch’s vision drew directly from the beauty of Central Park in spring. Pale pinks, soft lavenders, and natural greens permeate the home, creating an uplifting and serene atmosphere. The living room features a vibrant apple green velvet sectional, anchored by a floral rug. A sage green grasscloth wallpaper in the primary bedroom adds texture and tranquility.

The kitchen, bathed in buttery yellow cabinetry, feels like a burst of sunshine. The design incorporates a frame-like appearance to the cabinetry, further enhanced by the cheery Shasta Daisy paint. A custom banquette and Julian Chichester chairs in Serena Dugan fabric bring the sunny yellow theme into the dining nook.

Details that delight

Playful touches, like Voutsa wallpaper in the powder room featuring earring illustrations, add whimsy. A Matisse-inspired headboard in the primary bedroom, set against soft sage green grasscloth, provides a restful yet vibrant retreat. The home office, designed to stimulate creativity, incorporates Maison C wallpaper and a blush pink velvet sleeper sofa.

The project, completed in the Upper East Side apartment, represents a significant departure from the home's previous aesthetic. It demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a space into a reflection of its inhabitants and the surrounding environment. The result? A home brimming with a sense of hope and renewal.
