Nestled on Corso Magenta, near the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the apartment belonged to a Sicilian family accustomed to a life split between Milan, London, and New York. Seeking a functional base in Milan, they entrusted Studio dxp architetti – Danielle Cohen, Chiara Confalonieri, and Iris Capra – with reimagining the historic space. The three-year project prioritized maximizing functionality within the limited footprint, creating a cohesive design that feels both spacious and intimate.

The design ethos centers on a central axis, with a herringbone parquet floor guiding the eye through the living room, hallway, and bedroom. A continuous wall of custom walnut built-ins houses storage and technical functions, a design choice that echoes the efficiency of yacht design. Zero Otto Arredi crafted bespoke cabinetry, featuring Canaletto walnut detailing and black metal accents, unifying the apartment's aesthetic.

The challenge lay in balancing formal elegance with practical living. Many pieces were tailored to the space, including a wrap-around bench for the breakfast nook and a custom sofa in the living room.
