Drew Barrymore’s meticulously crafted weekend retreat in Harrison, New York, has found a buyer after a whirlwind two-year renovation – and a surprisingly hands-on design process.

The actor, a frequent presence overseeing the transformation of the 1747 estate, initially purchased the 12-acre property for $4.4 million in May 2024. What started as a cosmetic refresh quickly spiraled into a complete gut renovation, fueled, as she described it, by a ‘spiritual calling.’ Forget glitzy open houses; Barrymore lived within the evolving structure, enduring periods with no kitchen or running water – a process she fondly recalls as “some of my favorite times and memories.”

Compass Real Estate confirmed the sale, noting considerable interest and multiple offers. But it wasn’t just the land or the architectural bones that attracted a buyer; it was the painstaking, deeply personal attention to detail that ultimately sealed the deal. ‘We had an incredible amount of interest and several strong offers, which made the process really exciting,’ stated listing agent Kori Sassower. ‘In the end, it all came down to the land and the home’s truly unique features.’

The 5,600-square-foot estate, boasting a light-filled sunroom and a pond-like pool, represents a significant investment – and a tangible manifestation of Barrymore's creative vision. The sale underscores a shift in priorities, moving away from the frenetic pace of New York City and towards a more grounded existence.
