Colin King, the celebrated stylist known for his refined interiors, has expanded his design influence into the home goods market with a new collection for Zara Home. The collaboration, launching March 13th, offers a curated selection of décor pieces designed to inject a sense of quiet sophistication into any space.

King’s zara home line blends restraint and vibrancy

King, who has quietly partnered with Zara Home since 2019, took the helm of this project, moving from behind-the-scenes styling to full design authority. “It feels very vulnerable to create an object from nothing,” he admitted in an interview with Architectural Digest. This collection represents a departure, allowing King to explore design from the ground up.

The line features a palette of materials – glass, lacquered wood, brass, and onyx – showcasing King’s appreciation for tactile textures. Milky glass vessels sit alongside substantial onyx bowls, while vases are reimagined in lacquered wood and iridescent glass. The collection’s centerpiece is a brass egg lamp, a personal favorite of the designer’s.

Inspiration for the collection drew from the works of artists like Joan Miró, Jean Arp, and Egon Schiele. King specifically cited Schiele’s paintings of peasant jugs as influencing the collection's color story – citrine, reds, and greens.

“I’m a recovering matte addict,” King confessed, explaining his embrace of shiny finishes. “A lot of these pieces are shiny, so when you pick them up they have this life to them.” The intention isn’t to overwhelm a space, but rather to subtly activate it. The collection aims to appeal to both design enthusiasts and those who are already familiar with King’s work.
