Design evolves: fashion, heritage & unexpected collaborations take center stage
From washable rugs channeling Bauhaus to a couture gala transforming a cathedral, the design world is buzzing with a new wave of creative partnerships and material explorations. This month’s releases signal a shift: brands are blurring category lines, heritage finds new life, and practicality meets high design.
Heritage finds a fresh lease on life
Ruggable and Liberty have reimagined the British textile house’s iconic archives, translating hand-drawn florals into washable rugs. The collection’s designs, now available in durable, machine-washable formats, are positioned as year-round botanicals, a far cry from seasonal trends.
Artek and Heath Ceramics continued their collaboration with a new series of Tile Tables. Limited-edition pieces combine Alvar Aalto’s bentwood forms with Heath Ceramics’ ceramic tiles, offering a subtle nod to craftsmanship.

Fashion’s influence on interiors
Fromental, known for its hand-painted wallcoverings, teamed up with Fashion designer Harris Reed to create a collection translating runway aesthetics into interior design. Think sweeping florals and high-contrast palettes—a distinct departure from traditional decorative elements.
Anthropologie expanded its long-standing partnership with FARM Rio, bringing the Brazilian Fashion label's vibrant colors and foliage-inspired prints to ceramics, textiles, and tabletop pieces. The collection offers a sense of escapism, a slightly more relaxed version of everyday life.

Practicality meets luxury
Hommey broadened its appeal beyond cushions, launching a whole-home collection centered around organic cotton bedding and soft furnishings. Stripes dominate, creating a cohesive and calming aesthetic for the entire home.
Addison Ross introduced its most ambitious launch yet: the Palm Beach Collection. This range extends the brand’s signature style into tabletop essentials, including tablecloths, napkins, and even a backgammon board, solidifying its position as a complete dining experience.

Pattern gets a durable upgrade
BEMZ collaborated with Francesca Grace on The Reverie Collection, focusing on texture and subtle botanical motifs rendered in muted tones. The emphasis is on layering, seamlessly integrating these pieces into existing interiors.
Sunbrella’s partnership with Kelly Ventura continues with a second collection featuring structured, repeat-driven patterns. Designed for durability, the fabrics are suitable for upholstery, cushions, and outdoor applications.
Design as experience
The DIFFA Angels & Demons gala at St. John’s Cathedral showcased design as more than just decoration. Student teams created site-specific installations within the cathedral’s Gothic interior, transforming the space into immersive environments. The event raised over $400,000 for HIV/AIDS, food, and housing initiatives, proving that design can be a powerful catalyst for change.
This wasn't just a fundraising event; it was a potent demonstration of how design can redefine spaces and spark dialogue—a reminder that the most impactful design often transcends aesthetics.
