The project, spearheaded by Minty Synth Interiors founder Cynthia Rojas, proved that ambitious design can demand unexpected sacrifices.

From furnishings to full-blown renovation

Initially, the scope was modest: new light fixtures, fresh paint, and updated wallpaper. But the client quickly grew enthusiastic, requesting a drastic reimagining of key spaces. A fireplace needed a complete overhaul, the powder bath a radical redesign, and the kitchen a significant facelift. What began as a relatively contained project blossomed into a full-scale renovation, testing Rojas’s skills and patience.

The kitchen: a moody transformation

The kitchen became the catalyst for the project's expansion. The homeowners sought to transform the previously bland white space into a bold, moody cooking lounge. Rojas replaced the outdated tile backsplash with a quartzite slab matching the new countertops, added a built-in shelf, and swapped out the fixtures for modern pendants. The tile-covered island, she explains, adds depth and reflects light, creating a luxurious yet approachable feel.

Unexpected detours: the contractor chaos

The journey was far from smooth. Rojas and her team encountered a series of challenges, including the termination of four contractors. “There were many moments when I questioned if this project was going to work,” she admits. The team experimented with new techniques, such as the terrazzo fireplace surround and a custom marble dining table, but setbacks were frequent. Yet, the final result speaks to the power of perseverance.

The custom marble dining table, a centerpiece of the Home, required numerous iterations. The client desired a table seating at least eight, presenting spatial constraints and limited material. The final design features an oval silhouette and sculptural, organic legs, symbolizing balance and connection. A Lindsey Adelman chandelier completed the statement.

Personal touches throughout

The primary bedroom is designed to evoke the feeling of a high-end hotel, but with a distinctly Home-like atmosphere. Custom pieces, including the headboard and bed frame, add a unique touch, while carefully chosen accessories create a warm and inviting space. A custom white oak desk in the dressing room provides a functional overflow space from the bedroom, keeping the main area clutter-free.
