Dawson's creek house sells for $2.73 million, dock iconic to teen soap

The Wilmington, North Carolina, colonial that served as the on-screen residence of Dawson Leery in the popular '90s drama Dawson's Creek has sold for $2.73 million, marking the first time in its 148-year history the property has changed hands.

The 1.7-acre waterfront estate, which boasted 134 feet of Hewletts Creek frontage and a floating dock prominently featured throughout the show, was listed for $3.25 million last October before selling for $730,000 less. The sale comes as the property celebrates its 138th anniversary since being built from reclaimed shipwreck lumber in 1880.

The roughly 2,500-square-foot, four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home, nestled on a quiet street, features an eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, living room with fireplace, and a screened-in porch overlooking the water.

Outdoor spaces include an expansive patio and a picturesque willow tree with a swing, providing serene views of the creek.

While interior scenes were filmed on a soundstage, the exterior settings, including the iconic dock, were largely captured on location at the historic property.

The sale of the Dawson's Creek house serves as a poignant reminder of the late James Van Der Beek, who played the titular character and passed away in February at the age of 48 after a battle with cancer.

Katie Holmes, who starred as Dawson's best friend Joey Potter, sold her on-screen home for a mere $29,000 in an auction last year, excluding the land.
